Ten minutes gives the body time to settle and the words of Scripture time to become quiet within us.
It is brief enough to practice in daily life, but long enough for the first layer of restlessness to soften.

Why Ten Minutes?
The first few minutes are often spent noticing how quickly the mind has been moving. With ten minutes, there is room to arrive before the practice is over.
The purpose is not to accumulate minutes. It is to become available to the moment.
A Simple Ten-Minute Rhythm
Begin with two minutes of breathing and bodily awareness. Spend three minutes reading and repeating a short passage. Allow three minutes of silence.
Use the final two minutes for prayer, gratitude and noticing what you are being invited to carry into the day.
If Your Mind Wanders
A wandering mind is not evidence that you are bad at meditation. Notice where attention went and return gently.
Every return is a practice of mercy rather than control.
