The Fruit of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-23
From The Passion Translation (TPT):
But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions:
joy that overflows,
peace that subdues,
patience that endures,
kindness in action,
a life full of virtue,
faith that prevails,
gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit.
Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.

Just How Many Fruits Are There?
Some people wonder, are there 7, 9, or 12 fruits of the spirit? In most translations of Galatians 5:22-23, there are nine fruits of the spirit listing. According to the NIV translation, they are:
- Love
- Joy
- Peace
- Forbearance
- Kindness
- Goodness
- Faithfulness
- Gentleness
- Self Control

So why 12 Fruits?
Although there are 9 fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23, the Catholic Church uses the Latin Vulgate version of Galatians 22:
Fructus autem Spiritus est caritas, gaudium, pax, patientia, benignitas, bonitas, longanimitas, mansuetudo, fides, modestia, continentia, castitas. Adversus hujusmodi non est lex.
Thus, the Catholic church recognizes twelve fruits:
- Charity (caritas)
- Joy (gaudium)
- Peace (pax)
- Patience (patientia)
- Benignity (benignitas)
- Goodness (bonitas)
- Longanimity (longanimitas)
- Mildness (mansuetudo)
- Faith (fides)
- Modesty (modestia)
- Continency (continentia)
- Chastity (castitas)
